Former Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira has claimed he is ready to Renew his battle with Manchester United’s Roy Keane and is thoroughly looking forward to the challenge.

The pair are due to meet at Lansdowne Road in Wednesday's crucial World Cup qualifier, but it is the latest in a serious of battles between two of the more physical players of modern times:

“He [Keane] is the most important Irishman,” said Vieira.

“It’s him that imposes his rhythm on the others and dictates how they play.

“Our meetings have always been heated but I won’t be taking any backwards steps on Wednesday.

“I never give up.”
