French eyes over Liverpool star

Marseille are said to be keeping a very close watch over the situation with Djibril Cissé and Liverpool. Cissé indeed hinted that he would leave Liverpool unless he gets into Rafa Benitez's first team soon.

Unhappy and frustrated Cissé sees his future as away from Anfield and Marseille are ready to re-new their interest in the striker, having failed to sign him back in August.

Marseille sporting director Jose Anigo stated that he would be attempting to tie up a loan deal once the transfer window opens saying:

"The possibility of taking Cissé on loan will firm up in December. We know that he is not playing at the moment."

"If Djibril is to play in the World Cup finals with France then he needs to be playing regularly.

"If he wants to come to Marseille he will be made very welcome."

Whether Liverpool would allow him to leave on loan is debatable, and whether Marseille could afford to buy him outright is even more debatable, but it could just tempt another club in for Cissé.
