No exodus from Spurs

Despite having the biggest squad in the Premiership, Spurs boss Martin Jol has scoffed at suggestions that there will be a mass clear out at the club in January.

There had been suggestions that as many as seven players could be leaving during the January transfer window, but Jol has revealed that he has no intention of making many major changes to his playing staff.

Speaking to Sky sports News Jol stated:

"We certainly don't want to get rid of all the players who are in the reports."

"It's good for readers I mean (the speculation). They can make their minds up and their opinions.

"We have our philosophy, we know if we want to change something with one or two players we will do that in January, but there is a long way to go.

"Everybody said we have a big squad. We have a big squad with a lot of central defenders and central midfielders and that is maybe the quantity we have if you see my team.

"Brown for example did marvellously last year and it is painful for him, but if he fights back he will probably have a chance again.

"Mendes when he comes in for (Michael) Carrick always does well. That's the problem, we can't play them all.

"We have Sean Davis who was injured a bit and came back, but we can only play two players in the centre of midfield like we do so there are always three or four players left out."
