Arsenal go cold on Spanish star

Despite being strongly linked with Atletico Madrid ace Fernando Torres, Arsenal have not stepped up their interest in the player. Arsenal sent a scout to watch Torres, but have yet to offer anything concrete, prompting the players agent Jose Antonio Martin to explain to Marca:

"There has been no contact."

"The last time I spoke with Arsenal was a year and a half ago."

Arsenal are not alone in wanting Torres, with both Chelsea and Newcastle United, known to be admirers of the 21 year old, but Atletico have him under contract until 2008 and are desperate to hang on to him, so it would take an offer of epic proportions to tempt the Spanish side to sell.
