FA to investigate Spurs V West Ham

The FA are planning to write to both Spurs and West Ham and ask them about the allegations that Spurs’ Egyptian striker Mido was the target of racial abuse, by a minority of West Ham supporters, an FA spokesman commented:

"We want to build up a complete picture of events and how disturbing they might have been. We need to see what the clubs have to say about them."

Spurs boss Martin Jol also hit out at the abuse Mido allegedly received because of his Islamic faith saying:

"Was it tasteless? Yes."

"Our fans gave Teddy Sheringham a marvellous reception on his return and that is the way we deal with things here."
