Real Madrid begin reconstruction

Los Merengues are trying to put an end to the bad times: they have confirmed the signing of Brazilian full back Cicinho, are very close to land Italian striker Antonio Cassano and have appointed Benito Floro as footballing director, who will bring new projects to the side.

As Arrigo Sacchi resigned to his position, Real Madrid had to look for a new footballing director, and they found their man in Benito Floro, a man with a high reputation and long career as a trainer. He brings new projects, including more work with the youth teams and a better use of their products in the first team, a new method of working and a new team’s identity.

The team has also been strengthened as Brazilian full back Cicinho’s signing was confirmed. The player, who was also wanted by Manchester United, has signed a 5-year contract with Real Madrid and will meet his new teammates in the training session of December 29th .

Finally, Antonio Cassano is close to joining the side. An agreement over a contract till 2010 is very close to be reached and a transfer fee agreement with Roma should come soon too. Real is offering 3 million euros while Roma wants 6, but since the player’s contract expires on June 30th they might be forced to lower their pretensions.
