Newcastle United tried their best to bring Nicolas Anelka back to these shores in the summer, but alas to no avail, but now the Frenchman has admitted that he would like to have one more crack at life in the premiership, speaking to L'Equipe Anelka stated:

"I know I am at a good level."

"Perhaps I will leave Fenerbahce in the summer or in a few months.

"It will depend on the propositions.

"The club understands my position - I came to play in the Champions League and help the club get through the first round.

"It hasn't worked fine.

"Next season, we will probably qualify again and, if I have to stay, I will stay, it won't be a problem.

"In case of a departure, I would like to go to England.

"I would like to have a second opportunity to play for a big club.

"That is why I give my best with Fenerbahce."

Of course Newcastle are in need of a striker as the curse of injuries continue to plague the club, but whether money would be forthcoming is debatable, however it does appear the ball has been moved firmly into Newcastle’s court, time will tell whether they intend to pick it up or not.
