Spurs are interested in signing David Traktovenko from Russian club St Petersburg, at least that is what their chairman is claiming this morning.

Blowing the icicles off the minus 30 degree temperature currently being experienced in Russia the St Petersburg chairman doffed his furry hat at suggestions that the whole thing had been made up by the player’s agent Konstantin Sarsaniya:

"Some people say’s that Konstantin Sarsaniya invented information about Marseille's and Tottenham's interest in Kerzhakov."

"But I can say that I met the sports director of Tottenham when we were visiting Bolton for the Uefa Cup game.

"The sport director was ready to sign a contract with an exact sum of money if we had said 'yes' he talked about £7 to £8 million, a concrete sum dependent on some other things.”
