Wigan’s unexpected success in the Premiership this season has brought full-back Pascal Chimbonda to the attention of both Spurs and Manchester United.
Martin Jol watched Wigan's recent clash with Fulham in order to size up a potential move for the player, who is believed to be priced somewhere in the region of 4 million pounds by Wigan.
However it is not all bad news for Wigan who will soon see England under-21 left-back Leighton Baines sign a new contract prompting the player to state:
"The manager is keen for me to sign and I'm keen myself.
"I just hope it can all be done before we return for training in July as I will be into the last year of my current deal.
"The manager spoke to my agent recently and hopefully talks can go as smoothly as possible.
"I'm gutted my mate Jimmy Bullard has gone but I wish him all the best at Fulham.
I'm happy to stay, I want to stay and I haven't thought about moving."
