Everton, Gers, Villa and Rovers chase Aussie

Toffees boss David Moyes was at Prenton Park for Millwall’s FA Cup replay against Tranmere, which has led to some speculation as to why the Scot was there.

Apparently Everton have about £5.5m to spend on a central midfielder, as that was the amount they were prepared to fork out for Birmingham City’s Robbie Savage.

Millwall’s Tim Cahill is a very different proposition to Savage though. He’s not an out and out ball winner, although he is brave in the tackle.

The best facet of Cahill’s game is his goalscoring instinct. In fact, the only similarity with Savage would be the Aussie’s tremendous stamina which compares favourably with the Wales international.

Reports suggest that Aston Villa, Glasgow Rangers and possibly Blackburn Rovers are interested in buying Cahill, but flush with FA Cup cash Millwall may be extremely reluctant to sell.
