LFC war of words continues

Another idiot has come out of the woodwork to spout nonsense over events he wasn't even witness to. Notice no mention of Liverpool fans trampling over their own disabled supporters. No mention of the seats being smashed, nor the unprovoked attack on a Millwall fan in full view of the CCTV cameras.

A Home Office minister has spoken of his alarm at the possibility that Millwall supporters taunted Liverpool fans over the Hillsborough disaster.

And Lord Basam backed the FA's inquiry into the violence which erupted at The New Den on Tuesday night during Liverpool's 2-0 win.

The issue was raised in the House of Lords by Lord Moynihan who was sports minister at the time of the 1989 tragedy in which 96 fans died.

He complained about alleged Millwall chants, including: "You should all have died at Hillsborough."

Lord Moynihan said: "I have lasting memories of the tragic scenes I witnessed at Hillsborough.

"No-one in the House could feel more strongly than I about reports alleging abusive chanting connected to the Hillsborough tragedy from a small section of mindless thugs.

"That appears to have been the probable cause of the violence."

He added: "Such behaviour is intolerable, unacceptable and as vile as racist chanting at some football matches."

He said that the thugs involved do not deserve to be associated with football and should be identified from CCTV and then banned from all football grounds.

Lord Bassam replied: "I too have read the reports with considerable alarm. I understand that riot police had to be deployed and that four arrests were made.

"The allegation of distasteful chanting should be followed up and no doubt will form part of the police investigation into those incidents."

He added: "I hope that the football authorities will look closely at the events at that particular game and under-take their own careful investigation to see what action should be taken to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice."

Yes, let's hope the guilty Liverpool fans are brought to justice, not that they all know what that word means.
