Three West Ham supporters were arrested for throwing coins onto the pitch and at opposition fans on Sunday. Player manager Dennis Wise, goalkeeper Graham Stack and Millwall supporters in the West Lower stand were targeted by almost 100 coins hurled from visiting fans in the North Stand.

Player manager Dennis Wise, goalkeeper Graham Stack and Millwall supporters in the West Lower stand were targeted by almost 100 coins hurled from visiting fans in the North Stand.

The Football Association has conducted an inquiry into the scenes, and an FA crowd control adviser was on hand to witness the events of Sunday afternoon.

Police have gathered CCTV evidence of the incident, and will shortly publish their report to the FA.

However, violence could have continued had it not been for Wise’s reaction to having missiles aimed at him, according to Millwall’s head of security Ken Chapman.

Wise gathered the coins and distributed them to two Lions supporters in the West Lower.

Chapman said: “I thought the behaviour of Millwall fans and Dennis Wise was superb. The way he handled the situation was in a way that ensured there would be no more coin throwing.

“It was dangerous. They were clearly going into our stand and hitting their own disabled fans.”
