Celtic restart their Scottish Premier League campaign at home to Dundee United and Neil Lennon has played himself into contention for a place in the side.

The midfielder came through an Under-21 game unscathed and returns to the squad after pulling his hamstring against Celta Vigo.

United, meanwhile, moved to shore up their leaky defence by signing former Dunfermline centre-half Andy Tod and Tannadice old boy Gary Bollan.

United boss Paul Hegarty has been alarmed at the rate which his team are conceding goals and another shaky defensive performance in the Tennents Scottish Cup on Saturday prompted him to make moves into the transfer market.

Bollan, who left United to join Rangers eight years ago, has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal, while Tod has joined on loan from Bradford City until the end of the season.

Hegarty decided to make his double swoop after seeing his side lose 3-2 at home to Hibernian in the third round.
