Falkirk are set to launch a compensation claim after their head coach Ian McCall quit to take over as manager at Dundee United.

McCall, who resigned along with Gordon Chisholm and Assistant Coach Tony Doherty, was under contract until 2005 with the First Division club.

The Falkirk board have refused to accept his resignation and will hold a board meeting to decide what action to take.

Falkirk general manager Crawford Baptie admits the club are devastated by his departure and he insists they want compensation.

He said: "Ian McCall, Gordon Chisholm and Tony Doherty have all resigned but the board is not willing to accept those resignations.

"A board meeting will be held to discuss the situation and decide what to do next.

"There are legalities which have to be considered. They may have handed in their resignations but they were still under contract to Falkirk and the club will be looking for some compensation.

"To say that this is a massive blow for us is an understatement."
