Dundee United defender Mark Wilson was realistic but disappointed at losing to Celtic in the CIS Cup semi-final in what was the biggest game of his short career.

Dundee United defender Mark Wilson was realistic but disappointed at losing to Celtic in the CIS Cup semi-final in what was the biggest game of his short career.

The 18-year-old was outstanding as sweeper as he helped hold the Parkhead men at bay during some heavy pressure, especially in a one-sided first half in which United clung on by their fingertips.

However, Celtic eventually got the breakthrough just after the interval through defender Bobo Balde and went on to win convincingly 3-0.

Afterwards Wilson said: "I'm very disappointed. It was the biggest game of my career so far and you always think. that in a one-off game against the Old Firm you have a chance of an upset.

"If you go in at 0-0 at half-time against either Celtic or Rangers then you're happy with that. But once they get the goal then they're very good at keeping the ball and knocking it about and making you run.

"Even at a goal down you think you still have a chance. We we're playing reasonably well but when the second goal goes in, that's it over. What can you say, we're really disappointed."
