Friday night lights at the Mennaye Field promise a festival feel every time the team are in town and the first home league game of the NEW Pirates Experience against promotion hopefuls Leeds Carnegie should be something special.
New catering outlets run by Cornish caterers, who source local ingredients, offer a new eating experience both for formal hospitality guests and fans at pitchside. A modern, spacious marquee provides a large bar offering a variety of refreshments with efficient service a priority.
A matchday compere – Kernow King again for the Leeds game - live music, half-time on-field entertainment including the Rattler Challenge, plus post-match interviews and chat with the Cornish Pirates playing squad and staff should make Championship rugby at the Mennaye simply unmissable.
The Pirates have been re-structured with the aim to be capable of Premiership rugby by the 2015-16 season, when the Rugby World Cup Finals come to the UK making it an exciting time to be part of a rapidly developing club.
The coaching team have assembled a talented squad as they look to meld quality young players such as England Under-20 flanker Joel Conlon (below) with seasoned pros like Gavin Cattle and Alan Paver
Canada captain Aaron Carpenter has signed linking up with flying wing and countryman Matt Evans. Local boys including Tom Kessell, Kyle Moyle, Max Bodilly, Mike Roach, Jack Andrew, Jake Parker, John Stevens, Tom Duncan and Peter Joyce maintain a strong Cornish identity on the field of play.
With a new-look team and freshly tailored Game Day event the Cornish Pirates have said they aim to make the Mennaye Field the place to watch top quality professional rugby in Cornwall.
The widespread praise from both fans and media alike after the recent rugby festival suggests they could be right.

Looks like no Pirates TV this season? It's not mentioned anywhere. My son in Nottingham will be disappointed as he watched a lot of games last season. Just too expensive to run, I guess.
