The Pirates' starting XV has just two changes from the one that ran out away to Cambridge last time out, and both are in the forwards.
At hooker, Harry Hocking will make his first start of the season following Morgan Nelson having joined Gloucester, and in the back row Josh King is named in place of the injured Alex Everett.

Pretty strong Exeter selection. Our boys will have to be really on it to turn them over, but you never know.

This was always going to be a very tough game against a strong premiership strength Exeter Chiefs side.
The gulf in physicality, speed and accuracy was clear to see and given space the chiefs had a lot of pace in their backline to make the most of any opportunities.
You couldn't fault the effort of the pirates players as they tackled their hearts out trying to stop wave after wave of chiefs attacks.
I thought our lineout maul defence was much improved and there was a lot of learning to be gained from playing against our premiership opponents.
Well done to all players and coaches for their efforts tonight in difficult circumstances.

I'll avoid commenting on the game itself but I haven't stood in norty boys corner for a couple of years now and was surprised at the lack of passion and "noise" from home supporters........the atmosphere was dead! Also the game was allegedly sold out but there was plenty of space available around us and in the Newlyn stand . The crowd was apparently 2,500 ish and could have been more........surely a loss of income to a cash strapped club!! What is the official ground capacity limit??

I believe the capacity has been reduced to around 3000 but don't quote me on that figure.
Ground safety is not only about the available space but also takes into account a number of factors including how many people can be evacuated safely in a given time along the footpaths in the event of an emergency.

I believe the lads we had playing did a half decent show considering the age of the players and the competition been of strong character. Next week will be difficult and looking forward to the next round of the Championship.
