There are a raft of changes in the Pirates’ starting line-up from last weekend. In the backs Iwan Price-Thomas is selected at full-back in place of Bruce Houston, who returns to his more familiar place at fly-half, where he will have Cam Jones as his starting halfback partner. Matt McNab, now recovered from injury, is named in the centre with Charlie McCaig, who featured for Exeter Chiefs last week.

Changes in the pack see Sol Moody selected at hooker with Harry Hocking at number 8. On the flank Chris Mills will be looking forward to his first start.

Included among the replacements are several squad players keen for game time, plus hooker Sam Cantwell, aged 23, and 20-year-old fly-half/full-back Louie Sinclair, who have arrived at the Mennaye Field on loan. Aussie Sinclair has played for Sydney University and more recently Royal Wootton Bassett, whilst Finborough-born Sinclair arrives from Exeter Chiefs.

Although we can't qualify for the latter stages of the cup this is an important game for the squad ahead of 3-4 week break before our return to league action.

Disappointing to see Iwan Jenkins missing out through injury following the cowardly late tackle against Chiefs which appears to have gone unpunished without a citing🤷‍♂️

Although neither side were at full strength this was a well deserved win for the pirates.
The pirates took command of the game with two early tries and dominated the rest of the first half to lead 29-0 at half time.
The 2nd half was more even as both sides emptied their benches but the pirates remained in control of the game.
A very welcome win ahead of a few weeks off before the friendly match against the Royal Navy in 3 weeks time.

Many of the new faces showed great potential and should mean we have greater strength in depth when some of the injured guys return for the league matches coming up.
