The Ref Assessor takes a look at the referee for our upcoming home fixture against Ipswich Town. Paul Robinson from East Yorkshire will be the man in the middle at Turf Moor tomorrow.

The Ref Assessor - Burnley v Ipswich Town

Referee Paul Robinson takes charge of this weekends match against Ipswich Town. The last time Paul Robinson took charge of a Burnley match was at the back end of the 2004/05 season, when he took charge of our 2-1 home win against Rotherham, on that occasion he kept his cards in his pocket. In a match which had all three goals in the first fifteen minutes. In that match Robinson was forced to withdraw at half time to be replaced by 4^th official Neil Yates. The main criticism of Robinson’s performance on that occasion was he could have used the advantage rule more.

Robinson also took charge of our trip to West Ham in a match with finished 1-0 to the Hammers. On this occasion the Clarets fans criticised Mr. Robinson for an incident involving McGreal and Harewood which Clarets fans felt should have seen Harewood being sent-off.

So far this season Robinson has taken charge of five matches, two of which have been in the Championship. He has from those five matches issued ten yellow cards and one red card. The red card came in his last match when Stoke recorded a 5-0 win over Norwich. The red was issued to Norwich keeper Jamie Ashdown for a foul on Luke Chadwick.

Paul Robinson will be assisted by Mr. David Benton and Mr. Paul Curry . The 4th official will be Mr. Philip Bramley.
