Burnley Boys - Can you help?

The author of the novel, Burnley Boys, is desperately seeking the two men depicted as teenagers on the front cover of the book.

The novel, which has just been published, is about a group of boys growing up on the back streets of Burnley in the 1970's.

The cover features two teenage boys wearing Burnley scarves, aged about thirteen, sitting on a wall. It was taken around 1976. The boy on the left is Richard Jones who will now be aged 43. He attended St Theodore's RC High School and is still believed to live in Burnley. The other boy's identity is unknown.

The author, Peter Fyles (43), who now lives in Sweden, says: "I was good friends with Richard for many years but we have lost touch. I have no idea who the other boy was. It would be great to re-unite them and meet up with them. I would like to sit them on the same wall and take the same picture thirty years on."

"I considered lots of pictures from my childhood as the front cover, but this one fitted the bill perfectly," he added.

Burnley Boys is a fictitious novel about a young boy, Frank Heaney, whose life is moulded by football, his mates, the Roman Catholic Church, his mum and dad, and later, girls. Frank and his gang are all fanatical Burnley supporters. It is set mainly in the Duke Bar area of Burnley.

It is Pete's second book about Burnley. His first was Burnley's Greatest Goal and the Last of the Golden Boys published in 1999.
