Burnley have this afternoon signed Graham Alexander in a two-year deal for £200,000. The Clarets have paid £100,000 for the 35-year old and will pay £100,000 in the Summer. The Scottish international has just celebrated his 400th appearance for North End in which he has scored 53 goals.
In 1999 for a fee of £50,000, he moved to Preston where he became their main penalty taker and club captain. He was in the last year of his contract with Preston before they agreed the deal with the Clarets. His international career with Scotland has seen nearly 30 caps since his debut in 2002. The right-back is reported to be able to fit into either the right back position or into the midfield and Steve Cotterill told the official website that:
It is possible that he will wear the number two shirt against Colchester on Saturday. |

Alexander was born in Coventry and started his career at Scunthorpe where he scored 18 goals in over 150 appearances. He then moved onto Luton scoring 15 goals in 150 appearances.
