New Manager: Owen Coyle

After all the rumours, alledged signed deals and guessing games, Burnley have announced that Owen Coyle will become the new manager ahead of the Stoke game on Saturday.

Coyle, who is half way through his UEFA Pro Licence is now ready to start his career south of the border.

The Clarets agreed a deal with St. Johnstone and after talks with the ex-international, penned a deal taking him to the end of the 2010/2011 season.

Burnley chairman Barry Kilby told the official website:

"There were some outstanding candidates for the post, but Owen has all the credentials to make a success of his appointment.

"The fact that Scotland manager Alex McLeish took time out from preparing his country's huge Euro 2008 qualifier against Italy to sing Owen's praises shows he has the support of some top people.

"I am sure the fans will join me in welcoming Owen to Turf Moor and wishing him every success."

Operational Director Brendan Flood added:

"Owen has charisma and determination by the bucketload and his win percentage of victories as manager also tells us that he is a winner.

"Owen also fits our profile of wanting a young, hungry manager who can attract young players from the likes of Scotland and Ireland.

"I look forward to seeing him take Burnley to the next level."
