There will be a Hullabaloo On Humberside tonight, after Hull City have claimed the final promotion spot to the Premiership. They beat the very brave Bristol City today at Wembley. Just a single goal was enough to take Phil Brown and his Tigers into the top division for the first time in their history.
![]() Celebrations are top of the agenda tonight, after a fairy tale ending to an exciting play off final match with the winning goal coming from none other than Dean Windass. The striker who is in his 39th year made his experience tell when he fired home a super volley from the edge of the area. Hull have never played at the highest level in their 104-year history. They are thought to be the largest city in Europe never to have hosted top-flight football, and to top it off the East Yorkshire club have never played at Wembley. Hull were in danger of going out of business in the early 80's when the receivers were brought in. In 2003/04 they were competing in the fourth division, but with Peter Taylor at the helm they delivered back to back promotions to League 1 and then the Championship. And now they have reached the Premiership Well done to all at the KC, and good luck in the Premiership, mmmm ManUtd, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool!!!! I am as jealous as hell. |

The promotion of such a negative team to the Premiership simply highlights for me a) how poor the Championship League is and b) how bad Burnley are.
Remember, getting beat by Hull (probably one of the worst sides I've seen at the Turf this season) was the catalyst for Cotterill's demise. What's going on when they can get promoted and we're languishing mid-table again? Lack of ambition on behalf the Board that's what.
Come on Kilby & Flood look at what can be done with a 3rd rate club and have belief, put your money where your mouth is and generate some investment and you too could be enjoying the glory times that Hull are now celebrating.

It was only 2003/2004 season when Hull City were playing football in division 3.
Yet in 2008/2009 only 5 seasons later they'll be playing premier league football.
Fair play to Hull, they deserve it!

and how much have hull spent?
not a lot in transfers that for sure. they have been lucky. At the end of the day you need a great deal of luck to win/get promoted from this division as well as skill and we didnt have it.
Now am off to watch Hatton snr throw a few punches and then have a beer or two

I could be wrong about this but wasn't their manager in for the Burnley job when SC got it ?
If I'm right then just maybe we chose the wrong man.
