Burnley today defeated Bristol City by two goals to one at Ashton Gate, once again Burnley took all three points having had to come from behind. Going into the Christmas period this win keeps them looking strong in 4th place in The Coca Cola Championship.
The Clarets held their own in the first half against a busy City side. The teams went in at half time 0-0. the second half started brighter and it was City who took the lead in the 52nd minute through a Nick Maynard penalty. Steve Thompson replaced Joey in the 55th minute and immediately made an impact by having a hand in the lead up to Martin Paterson's 57th minute equaliser. Eagles was becoming the real danger man and he put in a good performance today that earned him the man of the match. Steve Thompson knocked in the 77th minute winner after some great approach play from Eagles and Paterson. With Birmingham dropping 3 points today the Clarets close the gap on 3rd place to just 4 points. With Burnley sitting in 4th place it should be a Happy Christmas for all Claret's fans. Next up Barnsley at Turf Moor on Boxing Day |
