Alastair Campbell Summarises The Bolton Game

So Burnley now have two running streaks we are desperately trying to bring to a close. Most obviously the failure to win away from home. Played nine, lost eight, drawn one. Now add to the hunt for our first away win the new ambition not to draw 1-1 at home. First Aston Villa, then Fulham, then Arsenal and now Bolton Wanderers have successively come to Turf Moor and taken a point in a 1-1 draw.

Of the four, Fulham then Villa will feel the most hard done by. Both Arsenal and Bolton should have been beaten. Bolton especially.

Even the Bolton fans seemed to think they were lucky to hold on. "You don't know what you're doing," they chanted at manager
Gary Megson at one point. "Megson Megson sort it out" at another. I was beginning to feel sorry for him, and for the groundsman who was going to have to clear up the mountain of discarded chewing gum wrappers in Megson's technical area.
