This was a period when Leeds were in decline. Revie had left an ageing team. Clough, Armfield and Stein followed. It might have been different if Leeds under Armfield had not been cheated so badly in the European Cup Final against Bayern Munich.
They lost but it’s a result that remains sour even today. The refereeing was puzzling to say the least. From that point on it was a downhill journey and after Adamson came Allan Clarke, Eddie Gray and Billy Bremner. Lorimer is none too kind towards Bremner either.
