October 30 2011
On Thursday 15th December Andy Payton is launching his new book at the Usha Restaurant in Burnley. The evening will include an MC, Comedian and a 3 course meal, there will also be a chance to purchase the book if you wish?
The profits from the ticket money will be split equally between Nelson Manor Care Home and Alzheimers Society. Andy is also hoping that he can bring some ex players/managers to the event All tickets for the event and books can be purchased at www.andypayton.com Tickets are priced at just £18-00p This is a limited print run so to make sure of your copy get your orders in soon. Pre-order your copy of this fabulous new book by Andy Payton via his website, and have it delivered to your door by 16th December 2011 priced at only £14-99, if you are stuck as what to buy a Claret for Christmas this book will make a great present. Andy's own preview of the book--Living The Dream If anyone ever wanted to live a dream and thought that dream had died, read my story. I had a 20 year professional career which yielded 230 league goals, and I wouldn’t change anything. I want to pass on my experience, my knowledge and my enthusiasm and want my story to be told. This is it. Read it and savour it. Let’s get one thing straight. I’m a lifelong Burnley fan. It was always my dream to play for them, and therefore when I was released by my beloved Clarets as a kid, I was devastated.......So imagine my feelings the day I finally got to play on the sacred ground of Turf Moor – but not as a Claret. Instead I was in the colours of opponents Barnsley, and sure enough, I silenced the very fans I used to stand with on the terraces by grabbing the winning goal. But I didn’t celebrate as a player normally would, and if you understand my feelings and emotions on that day, you’d know why........ Normally you would run over to your own fans and celebrate with your team mates but though Brendan O’Connell and Danny were trying to get me to at least smile, I decided just to walk back....... I felt then I was somehow fated to play for Burnley in the future, and when I think about it now I guess I must be the only person to have scored at Turf Moor and not celebrated their goal. I’ve been on the ground hundreds of times as a player and fan and I’ve never seen any other away player not celebrate scoring. I genuinely didn’t even smile, I just walked back to the half way line with this very weird feeling...... I’m absolutely certain that even the Burnley fans who didn’t know me respected that, and it helped when I actually played for them because I always had a brilliant relationship with the Burnley fans. Maybe it’s because I’m one too. Looks like this will be a great night folks so get yourselves along, eat drink and be merry and help two good causes whilst doing so. |

Anybody going to this - might be tempted if are others going to be there?
"A truth’s initial commotion is directly proportional to how deeply the lie was believed. It wasn’t the world being round that agitated people, but that the world wasn’t flat. When a well-packaged web of lies has been sold gradually to the masses over generations, the truth will seem utterly preposterous and its speaker a raving lunatic."
