Three first half goals gave the Clarets the perfect start to the new season as they came from behind to book their place in the second round of the Capital One League Cup.
Chris McCann and Dean Marney both scored for the first time this year as Burnley cancelled out Chris Shuker's early strike. And with the in form Charlie Austin picking up where he left off last season by popping up to notch in between. Eddie Howe's side had enough in hand thanks in part to a super show from goalkeeper Lee Grant to weather a second half storm from League Two Vale. I'll second that Shanghai but it does sound as though our defence has some way to go to tighten things up at the Championship level.
