Clarets defender Long pays tribute to City's part in his career. Kevin Long insists he has Cork City to thank for allowing him to fulfil his lifelong dream of playing in England.
The Irish defender heads back to former club Cork on Monday night as part of the Burnley squad for the club’s second pre-season friendly.
And Long, who broke into the City side in 2009 after impressing at youth level, reflected on his time with the club ahead of his move to Turf Moor in the 2012 January transfer window
Chatting to Clarets Player from the club’s Cork-based training camp, the 23-year-old said: “Obviously I grew up here so I am very familiar with the place.
“I signed for Cork City when I was around 17 and broke into their first team and played around 15 games.
“It’s because of Cork that I got my move to Burnley, so I can’t thank them enough for that.
“It’s a real family club and everyone around the city works hard to keep the club ticking along.
