Ipswich Town 0 Burnley 1
By Burnley FC
October 19 2013
Scott Afrield’s late header kept Burnley top of the Championship and sealed the club’s best start to a league season since 1897.
The Scot raced in to meet Kieran Trippier’s wicked cross nine minutes from time make it six straight league wins for Sean Dyche’s classy Clarets. Portman Road had not been a happy hunting ground for Burnley, whose only win in Suffolk came in 1970. But a fourth straight away win was always when Arfield’s fourth goal of the season came late in a game of precious few chances. The Clarets were unchanged from the side that defeated Reading in the last outing two weeks ago. But the hosts, who had won four of their five home games, started well, with dangerman David McGoldrick forcing an early block form Jason Shackell as he shaped to shoot from a tight angle. Town were enjoying plenty of possession in the early stages, as they looked to find targetman Daryl Murphy at every opportunity and force the Clarets onto the back foot. 0-0 at half-time.
Sounds quiet, good.

Two or three half chances for Ipswich, not much at the other end. Surprisingly negative from us, taking their time over throw-ins and goal-kicks, looks to me like they'd be well happy with a point.

Unbelievable.
Yet another week goes by with me saying to myself, "surely this cant get any better", and then it does.
I really didnt expect to win today.
I still cant stop looking at the table.

Daren't think about beating QPR. I mean, we most certainly can but surely it's got to end soon? It's the Burnley way. I hope the Turf is rammed and noisy, because they deserve it.
I like that we were poor today, but still left with three-points against a decent team. Bodes well for the season.

Real smash and grab raid. Rarely threatened their goal but protected Heaton so well he was virtually a spectator. I liked the way we played out the last three minutes, well on top, even won a corner in the last minute, Ipswich had 'gone', sign of a good team.

Brilliant result.
Would have been happy with a draw, and was expecting one. Still pinching myself that this is happening- but it's not down to luck because this is an honest-to-God good side.
