Boyd To Wing In

By Burnley FC
September 1 2014

George Boyd admitted he was delighted to join Burnley after a whirlwind move saw him sign a three-year deal at Turf Moor. The former Hull City winger experienced success with Hull City last season as they stayed in the Premier League and reached an FA Cup final against Arsenal.

Not got a prolific goalscoring record for a striker though, has he?

He has played most of his career as a left winger CW.

Not seen his scoring record but he will come in for Taylor on Left Wing.

Taylor releaged to bench as chief cover for CM, LW and LB.

Kightly gonna be miffed, pushed further out.

Looks like a fairy doesnt he, but certainly more beef in those arms in the photo there than Eagles ever had (who crazily people compare the two - I think its purely cause of the girly hair and being a winger?).

Plus Bruce being quoted as in one game he covered 15km which is huge, think Becks i the famous Greece game only totalled 12/13km.

If he can graft and fight as well and having the fancy flicks and gaiy hair then he will do me.

It sounds like we had little choice but to sign Kightly. Quite happy with Boyd though, a bit of creativity that's sorely missing in the squad.

Yeah that's the one, gifted player, but I think he might be one of them that can't be arsed every now and again.

We crying out for creativity though.

Ah yes, we were linked years ago, too. Primarily a left-winger, but can play both sides. Very Sean Dyche.

Right at this moment, if he can't play centre-mid or centre-half I'm not interested.

I agree BC, if we are going to break the bank it should be for a progressive centre half first and a creative goal scoring midfielder second. My instinct says that we will pay the price should the right opportunities present themselves.

Looked a decent player when I've seen him, maybe Dyche is thinking either he can play centre or perhaps Arfield can?

Assuming of course we are actually in for him

eagles look a like with abit more graft, we need some quality on the left hand side. Still short in midfield and defence though.

if true, and we sign Boyd - nice.

No problem with us signing him, as long as there's still some dry powder left for the vastly more important centre-half and centre-mid we need.

Is he better than Eagles would be under SD's influence? Eagles of course is available for nowt....come to think of it if we are looking for back up and squad players there is also Mears....

I really enjoyed that last goal against the team in the Blue and Whites Halves.

I am with BC. As long as SD thinks that he has potential, we hold our nerve and do not break the bank, I am good with it.

Re: Boyd To Wing In

Well we only signed Kightly because we HAD TO it seems.

At the last minute Stoke bent over backwards to let Kights come to us for a Season, when they had like £500K+ better offers elsewhere in wages contribution (late offers).

We simply couldnt up it but the player wanted to come here on loan, so I imagine (as a board member publicly stated that Stoke 'bent over backwards for us on that deal), a deal was struck without us increasing our offer but with a firm commitment that we sign the players for £x on the unlikely event of promotion.

He got us over the line so ive no complaints and he even said the day went up he would be signing for us.

I imagine the delay in announcing it was down to personal terms.

He did look awfully chubby-faced in pre Season photos and even in marketing photos with the new black strip (recent) - maybe he has turned up unfit and theres nothing we can do but leave him out until fit?

Has he kicked a ball at all (inc pre-Season)?
