Burnley 2 Huddersfield Town 1

   Gray scored his fifth goal in as many games for the Clarets, striking twice in the first half to claim all three points. 

    A late Michael Duff own goal set up a nervy finish at Turf Moor, but the Clarets hung on to make it five wins in seven at home.

   It took the Clarets just 12 minutes to take the lead from the penalty spot, but it was the visitors who had the first chance of the game just four minutes in.

   Jason Davidson pulled back to Harry Bunn to the corner of the box, but the striker’s effort was well blocked by Tendayi Darikwa, looping it over for a then wasted corner.

   Burnley then took charge though and Gray’s blistering pace caused panic, before Joel Lynch felled the pacy striker to give Burnley their first penalty of the season.

   The former Brentford striker duly stepped up to send Jed Steer the wrong way, slotting into the bottom right corner to give the Clarets a 1-0 lead.

   Sam Vokes then picked up the ball from crowd favourite Scott Arfield at the edge of the box, but his curling strike from the edge of the ‘D’ was well held by Steer.

  The Clarets then had two golden chances to double their advantage on the half hour mark.

   Arfield beat Dean Whitehead down the left before bursting towards the near post. However, the winger was caught in two minds with Gray and George Boyd waiting at the far post and a timely sliding tackle from Mark Hudson at the near post killed the chance.

   Gray then continued to be a nuisance for Lynch, outmuscling the centre back before squaring to Boyd. This time the winger went for goal with a first time strike, but Steer was down quickly, palming out to safety.

   But Burnley and Gray were rewarded with a stunning second moments before the break.

   Vokes found his strike partner on the right, just inside the box and the Wolverhampton-born forward beat Steer at his near post with a thunderbolt to extend the lead.
