A dour stalemate at Molineux helped the Clarets to extend their unbeaten run to seven games.  It's also now just one defeat in 13 games for Sean Dyche's men, who struggled on a lifeless pitch to reach the heights of recent weeks.

Two early chances to Scott Arfield and Andre Gray were as close as the visitors came to extending their winning streak.

But at the other end, Tom Heaton was largely protected by a resolute defence that racked up its fifth clean sheet of the campaign.

Sean Dyche named an unchanged side for the fourth game in succession – and it was a bright start from the Clarets, who were twice on target in the opening three minutes.

Arfield had a tentative shot from 20-yards after just 40 seconds which was straight at Emiliano Martinez.

George Boyd then flicked onto Gray, who went for goal from a similar position, but again the shot was straight at the Argentinean.

After a quiet spell, it was the Clarets who again came closest to scoring in the 20th minute mark.
