Been hearing a lot of Prem managers moaning about too many fixtures, so a few of them will be putting weakened teams out in their FA cup games.

So the question is - will we be following suit in our game ?
And if we do, do you think thats the right thing to do ?

Ive just checked what weve got coming up, and didnt realise :

Middlesbrough Away Saturday
Milton Keynes Away Tuesday
Brentford Away Friday

Im usually against changes and moaning managers, but looking at that, im changing my mind a bit on this occasion.

Look at the state of Liverpools team tonight for their cup tie at Exeter.
Hope they get thumped.

According to Radio Lancs, Marney's isn't ready for tomorrow. He could play his strongest team and we still might get beat so why bother, get Freddie in and Taylor and attack them with the Luftwaffe. Tell Joey and Andre to get their feet up and have a rest. League points are what we want, the cup's irrelevant.

When did everyone stop bothering about them. It never used to be like this.

I'd love us to have a good cup run.

Me to Fred....don't hold yer breath though, knockout games are not SD's forte.

Money Fred, and priorities. We're 3/1 to be promoted, the bottom team in the PL will get a minimum of £100m next season, plus more parachute payments. We're 150/1 to win the FA Cup and we'd get £3.5m should we win that.

3/1 to get £100m plus, 150/1 to get £3.5m, it's not rocket science Fred, which should be our priority ?

I'd love us to have a good cup run as well, but if we put out an under- strength team at Boro, I won't be complaining.

I know what you mean, its all about the money, thats all it ever comes down to nowadays.
I'll be honest, if i had to choose one or the other, i would rather have an FA Cup final to go than a promotion this season, however unlikely the odds are.

I cant really remember how most teams approached it 20-30 years ago, but i cant recall teams making wholesale changes, and all the moaning that goes with it. Maybe we werent playing as many games back then, but i cant see how.

And arent most players the fittest they have ever been now that at any other time in history.
It was only 7 or 8 years ago we had some good cup runs and achieved promotion in the same season using the least number of players, playing the most number of games.

However, im not gonna complain today if we make a lot of changes, like i said i didnt originally realise we had 3 away games in 6 days to play.

About the only thing I would have liked to see there is a start for long and give big Sam a rest. Hasn't Anderson progressed all the way through our development system and there he is first choice CB sub - nice to see a good investment coming to fruition.

First choice CB sub, but Shackell has been transferred and not replaced, Duff is injured, Long is out on loan to get match fit, and our left-back is playing centre-half in front of him, hardly a ringing endorsement of his ability is it Soapy. I last saw him when he started in the pre-season friendly at Accy, after 10 minutes Stanley were 3-0 up.

I admire your blind faith in our youth system soapy, but I don't think Anderson is the light at the end of the tunnel.

You can polish Burton's windows soapy, but the problem with our youth system is you can't polish a turd.

In one ship I was in BC the "Grimmy" trophy (for one successful with the least attractive member of the opposite sex) was a mounted (sealed) polished turd.

Dire 1st half and how we weren't 5 down at half time I don't know. Missed Rouwens goal as went for a beer in disgust.

Second half so much better offensively.

Thought Hennings and Freddie Ulversdat played well.

Thought Boyd and Ward were worse than shite! (Though let ward off a little for the goal)

Funny game football... we always traditionally beat Boro in the Cup... once in 1913 and then in 1947

so in all honesty (you know you can trust me) I had a little feeling we'd win this one.

A pleasant surprise this morning. Well done boys. Good to see our Europeans performing.

Cracking result today, totally unexpected as far as I'm concerned. Glad we'll be in the hat for the 4th Round.

On the FA Cup, and I'm sorry to bore you with talk of Wales here, but the Welsh Cup is pretty big down here, and the reason I said to my Dad today is pretty much the same as where England was 30 years ago.

Welsh teams are an embarrassment in Europe, they may as well be banned as English team were 30 years ago (for different reasons obviously).

So it's a break from the pressures of the league, I remember as a kid thinking I was going to be a footballer and I wanted to score the winning goal in an FA Cup final.

Now I couldn't care less about it, and it's because of Europe. If English teams couldn't play in Europe the FA Cup may hold some prestige again.

After the league, the FA Cup would be the big competition.

One of my mate's Dads used to go out on the lash every cup final day (the only day his Mrs allowed him out on the beer). I bet he doesn't do it now.

I know Arsenal won it last year (I checked today), but I couldn't tell you who won the 10 before that.

But I can tell you that Liverpool won it in 86, Coventry in 87, Wimbledon in 88, Liverpool again in 89 and so on...

Until I stopped being interested to be honest.

Back in the day soapy, me and my mate were 'Grimbo Dancing' champions of Burnley Fire Station. Some of them you wouldn't believe.

I wonder who we will get in the 4th round? I'd love it to be Man Utd at home and LVG get the sack as a result of a Clarets victory.

In 2016 I really didn't want Boro away.

Just looking at the opposition left in and I'm a bit surprised at just how many draws we could get that we're well capable of winning, any of these, preferably at home, wouldn't worry me at all,

Derby, Colchester, Peterborough, Northampton/Mk Dons, Newport/Blackburn/, Ipswich/Portsmouth, Wycombe/Villa, Wednesday, Oxford, Walsall, Bury/Bradford City, Eastleigh/Bolton, Forest, Carlisle/Yeovil, Leeds, Cardiff/Shrewsbury, Huddersfield/reading, Hull.

I don't think I can still get my head round just how big a club we are these days, we can see any of the above off, in fact with a bit of luck in the draw we could go a long way this year.

Will we get that luck though, or something like Palace away.

and Palace will play a weakened team... its our year.

Palace wont play a weakened team, they care about it and want to win it.

I just hope we get a home draw. Someone like Colchester or Newport would be a bonus.
