Two goals either side of half time from Leicester City's record £30m Islam Slimani helped condemned the Clarets to a second straight 0-3 away defeat.

Manager Sean Dyche would later reflect on “four minutes of madness” as the Algerian headed home a Christian Fuchs free kick and a Riyad Mahrez cross to leave the Clarets with a mountain to climb.

And the final nail in the coffin came late on when the exceptional Ben Mee unfortunately turned a Mahrez cross past Tom Heaton to complete the scoring.

It might have been a different story if the Clarets, with their own record signing Jeff Hendrick making a full Burnley and Premier League debut, had gone in level at half time following a confident first half display.

But once the Champions got their noses in front, it always looked a difficult task for Sean Dyche’s men – and so it proved!

Republic of Ireland midfielder Hendrick took his role in a five-man midfield, alongside Dean Marney and a slightly advanced Steven Defour.
