Chelsea up next .. Damage limitation or can we get a result ?

Expecting nada ,so anything else will be a big bonus for me..

Big test, no doubt, but should be a good game. It will be live on NBC Sports Network, so Clarets fans in Trumpylvania will be watching!!

The heart says anything might happen... keep em out and then one lucky break.

No expectations at all here, we could just spring a surprise with this one, no pressure for a result, we are not in Chelsea's top six league so any points would be a huge bonus, I just hope we put in the performance we are capable of and show the big boys how far we have come.

Twitter is filled with Chelsea fans rather apprehensive about Sunday.

If we lose, as we probably will, I just hope it's not another dubious last minute winner. I'd rather us lose by 3 or 4, and it's all done and dusted with 10 minutes left, than another bloody pantomime last minute goal down to incompetent officials.

Yes that's all well and good Brian, England expects, we'll fight them on the beaches etc, but in the end we'll still probably lose.

Results could not have gone better today giving us the equivalent of a free hit. Chelsea will emerge from their warm beds at the Dunkenhalgh to be hit by the icy blast that is Turf Moor, and cold showers.

Yep,great results and whatever the result tomorrow,it's another game chalked off .

The bottom six are really in trouble now, they'll have to improve a lot, just to make it worthwhile our lads getting out of bed in a morning. If they continue picking points up at the same rate as they have done so far, they're going to end up like this :-

Boro 33 pnts
Swansea 33 pnts
Leicester 33 pnts
Hull 30 pnts
Palace 29 pnts
Sunderland 29 pnts


At the moment it's looking quite possible 33 pnts will be plenty enough to stay up.

Told ya.......we fight em on the beaches every game.My next comment is constructive not negative, we could have done much better out of this game with just a few minor improvements.That to me is a reason for great optimism.With Barto on the pitch we are a different outfit.If Gray wants the goals he had better believe he can reach every ball and rundown every defender he goes after without hesitation.Why oh why did he use his right foot instead of the left when he had Courtois at his mercy.Westwood great defending poor going forward.Overall absolutely brill.

I have rightly predicted that the match will be a draw Burnley 1-1 Chelsea .

And assuming we stay up up... sad to say that Barnes has to be upgraded...

I thought our two full-backs were excellent, as good as I've seen either of them play, Keane was outstanding, Ben was sound in general, apart from his usual cock-up which could have been disastrous, Joey just gets better and better, Westwood was a perfectly adequate replacement for Marney, Boyd worked even harder than he usually does, Gray and Barnes didn't get much change out of the Chelsea defence, but then who does, and Brady scored a cracking free-kick, which is as well, because that apart he was atrocious.

Brady agreed with you BC in his post match comment which in and of itself is a positive.We are going to become improved as this season goes on.4 away games is nothing to fear...we is going to get
something from those games.Realistic says our potential top postion is 9th place and we can do that.Lincoln next and I am very much looking forward to that forthe same reasons that some of you attend non league games.Proper fans proper footie.Look forward to the visit of LC to the Turf.These are the best of times.

Big decisions though if we stay up... some positions really do have to be upgraded if we want to be taken seriously and become a secure mid table team, a la Stoke or West Brom.

Shouldn't be a problem, nine of that team that came close to beating Chelsea were playing for us last season, Marney, Defour and Hendrick have to come back, if we stay up we'll have another £120m plus to add to this year's profits, plus whatever we get for Keane, and we just replace him with Tarko.

There'll be more than enough cash to strengthen significantly, just needs our recruitment team to get their act together.

You lot are looking too far ahead. Lincoln next week - who plays? who gets rested? who's cup tied? That's what we need to be thinking about.

Barnes upgraded ? Can someone translate for me please ? He was Man of the Match.

His elbows and @#$%& will only get him and us so far... most games a red card waiting to happen... Barton was MOTM, then Keane, Ward and Lowton.
Barnes is good for roughing em up... he's a 100% battler, performs at the max every game... defenders must hate him... but upgraded means someone who has skill and first touch as well

Just watched a recording of the game and it still surprises me what you can pick up, or miss, by being there.

After watching on't box I thought Brady hadn't been as poor as I first thought, but then I realised you couldn't see on TV what he was like off the ball in the second half when he was right in front of us, he seemed to have lost the plot, and he didn't seem sure of what he should be doing, or where he should be. It was a relief to me, and I think the lad himself, when he was hooked. But he is surely a far better player than he showed yesterday, just might need a bit of SeanTime down Gawthorpe to get him up to speed.

On the other hand I was even more impressed watching Westwood on TV. I thought he had quite a decent game but I'd missed quite a lot of the work he got through. After a re-run on TV I'm even more impressed, he had some big boots to fill replacing Deano but we never missed him for a second. Westwood, one pass apart, was superb, and was still running right to the end, his fitness level is right up there with ours, and that surprised me.

Westwood under attack was very good but as I said going forward was a different matter and that pass was a magnification of what formed my overall view.The pass could have cost us the game.He would still be on the teamsheet for me though.One more gripe....our heading forward to a man is@#$%&and barely if ever results in one of our players being on the receiving end.High floating headers advantage the opposition.We have loads of room for improvement that is well within the capacity of our players.I am still convinced we will improve and that away points will come.DT is without question correct in regards our strikers and as I said defenders don't like goal scorers, it is in their DNA.

It was one pass Brian, Mee does something similar every game, Lowton did it recently, Scotty makes a habit of it and cost us the game against Blackburn doing it a couple of seasons back, Joey does it occasionally, they all do it. That pass doesn't worry me in the slightest. I'm not sure what you're expecting from him in an attacking sense, you can count Deano's assists over a season on one hand and still have fingers spare, Westwood will probably be similar. He was brought in to do a specific job, and he did it well imo, especially given that it was his first start for us, he was unfamiliar with his team-mates, unfamiliar with our style of play, and we were playing the best team in the league.

9/10 for me.
