McNeil has signed a new contract with the Clarets running until June, 2023 – with the option of an additional 12 months – on the back of an outstanding break-through season at first-team level. The deal caps a remarkable few months for the 19-year-old, who signed his first professional contract at Turf Moor last April. McNeil made his senior debut as a substitute on the final day of last season and has quickly developed into a key member of Sean Dyche’s senior squad. “A lot has happened in a short space of time and I’m happy to have signed a new deal,” said McNeil, who has started the last four Premier League games to help the Clarets to an unbeaten run and a move away from the bottom three. Altogether now, Dwight McNeil he's one of our own.
Heard today Dundee are payng K Miller £9k a week, cannae get confirmation.
Sickens me that football players earn more than a grand a week, whatever league they play in
To think that McNeil would still be pottering about int development squad and probably even out on loan to disappear like all the rest...
But injuries to Gudmondsson and Lennon and the Brady suspension gave him his chance... It's turned well for him, it's the luck of the draw, pure chance that he got a spell in the side... and not any design by Dyche.
How fortunate is that?
