Clarets hold their nerve to advance in FA Cup as goalkeeper Will Norris makes dream debut

Will Norris was the Clarets’ penalty shoot-out star as he enjoyed a match-winning Burnley debut.

Norris made his first appearance for the Clarets following his arrival from Wolves last summer with first-choice Nick Pope given the afternoon off.

And the 27-year-old made the most of the opportunity with two excellent spot-kick saves to take the Clarets into the fourth round of the FA Cup after they had twice come back from the dead.

It took a 93rd-minute equaliser from substitute Matej Vydra to take the tie into extra-time as League One MK Dons were denied a notable scalp.

And then after neither side could find a winner and Vydra had missed Burnley’s opening effort in the shoot-out, Norris came to the rescue and paved the way for a second cup win on penalties this season.

Great to see debuts for some of the youngsters today, Joel Mumbongo impressed, good speed and a big unit, I do hope he progresses, as Wood and Barnes can't find the net at the moment. We do need someone to convert the chances we are creating. Also a welcome back for Jack Cork after a long time out.
Well we progress to the 4th round let's hope we don't get Citeeeh for a change.

Well done Clarets. (Sm152)

Proper scrape through, our style suits big lumps not Vydra...I don't think he will ever get to shine with us. Besides which SD does not do cups or excitement. Not a criticism just fact.

Just seen the highlights, they weren't exactly overjoyed at the end.

I wouldn't mind a cup run, as long as it doesn't affect our form in the league.
