Clarets struggle against 10 men but extend unbeaten run and edge a point nearer safety

The Clarets missed a golden opportunity to put themselves even closer to Premier League safety by reaching the 30-point mark as West Bromwich Albion negotiated an hour with 10 men.

The dismissal of Baggies’ defender Semi Ajayi for stopping a goal-scoring opportunity with a hand-ball offence presented Burnley with an ideal chance to secure a fifth home win of the season and push the Midlanders a little nearer the drop.

But on a day when Sean Dyche’s men were way below their best, they failed to make the most of the numerical advantage and in truth were fortunate to end up with even a point.

West Brom goalkeeper Sam Johnstone didn’t have a save to make as the leg-weary Clarets were short of ideas and inspiration.

And the visitors missed a couple of magnificent chance of their own to claim only a third win of the season as they were left marooned in the bottom three.

The Clarets therefore stayed 14 points clear of the Baggies and remained 15th in the table.

The last 2 games a number of players have looked 'dead on their feet'. Only one more midweek game till the end of the season now.
Hope Dyche gives them a few days off, might do 'em good.

To be fair it is not a big squad coupled with injuries makes this period a tough ask. We needed to have had some quality fresh blood but got none. IMO we are exceeding based on our stock.

Two points thrown away added to the two we chucked away against Fulham.

The fixtures get tougher from here

With what we have available and the reality of the opposition SD and his team are performing miracles imho. Not what we want maybe but a reality check is in order.
