Liverpool 2 Burnley 0

Clarets don’t make it easy but can’t spoil homecoming party The Clarets couldn’t add to their impressive Anfield record but didn’t go down without a fight.

Sean Dyche’s men had been unbeaten on three of their four previous visits to the Reds and so might not have been the most welcome visitors as Liverpool welcomed back the fans.

Those supporters ultimately went off happy but for a long time it was far from comfortable viewing for those hoping to celebrate a home win.

And it needed a second Liverpool goal 20 minutes from the end to finally kill off the Clarets’ challenge after they had pushed the former champions all the way in pursuit of their first points of the season.

Burnley were without Ashley Westwood as the midfielder – an ever-present last season – saw his run of Premier League duty ended by a toe injury.

With Josh Brownhill coming into the starting line-up, along with last season’s match-winner Ashley Barnes in attack, the Clarets started with numbers 1-11.

It’s thought the Premier League hadn’t seen such a team sheet since 1998 and there was also a throwback to a more recent era with a capacity crowd back at Anfield for the first time since March, 2020.

Not a bad performance overall 1st half especially, but and it is a big but, goals are needed to win matches, and once again after creating a few chances we fell short. Oh well 2-0 against Liverpool is not too bad. Leeds next up in the League with the toon on Wednesday in the Carabao cup.

FFS what is Klippity on about with his remarks about Barnes, Wood and Brownhil being too physical and if we want to watch that sort of play we should go and watch wrestling, f***k off clown.

Jürgen the German is always whinging about us. I suspect there will be a minutes silence at Anfield to remember the victims of our tough tackling, followed by Jordan Henderson laying another wreath at the Kop.

I can be a little abstract in my posts Oz but you have got me puzzled with the Mormans response.
Are you still able to work under current restrictions in your part of Aus?

Sorry Bon, it was just a random thought given our new owners
religious connections. Maybe word has gone out amongst the
faithful and we can tap into a whole new fanbase.winking smiley
No restrictions at all here in WA, when the eastern states stuff
things up we just shut the border.

Even the Wimbledon 'Crazy Gang' weren't ridiculed as much as us.
