Brace from winger Maxwel Cornet gave Burnley a precious point in a 2-2 thriller down at Southampton

The Clarets had earlier given away a lead for the fifth time this season, when a goal either side of half-time from the hosts turned the game on it’s head. But another wonderful strike from Cornet earned a point, with Sean Dyche’s team refusing to give in, in a classic end-to-end Premier League contest. Although they stay in the bottom three, Burnley are able to take a vital point back to Turf Moor from the south coast. It was a firing start from the Clarets, as they struck first with just 13 minutes gone when Ivorian summer signing Cornet got on the end of an excellent cross from full-back Matt Lowton, sending the travelling support into raptures. That was a second goal in his last three games, following his joint club record move in August, and wouldn’t be the last time he worried the Southampton defence across the 90 minutes.
