Late Vydra strike secures a point on the road for the Clarets Matěj Vydra scored a dramatic late equaliser to rescue a point for the Clarets in a 1-1 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Thomas Tuchel’s side took a one-goal lead into the break after Kai Havertz’s powerful header broke a defiant Clarets defence. Sean Dyche named an unchanged side from last week’s win against Brentford, but two substitutes linked up for his side's goal as Vydra pounced on Jay Rodriguez's header to equalise with ten minutes remaining. Burnley showed immense heart and character to hang on against an impressive Chelsea side in the opening 15 minutes. The Blues could have scored inside five, but Nick Pope made an outstanding save, getting down low to his right to prevent Callum Hudson-Odoi’s powerful shot from finding the corner of the net. The young winger was put through on goal by Ross Barkley for that chance and nearly set up Andreas Christensen with a cross from a short corner moments later, but the defender’s header was glanced wide of the post. Pope’s busy opening nine minutes continued as he made another excellent stop from Jorginho, with Burnley’s number one doing well to push the Italian’s attempt out for a corner. Regards Vyds, to be fair to the lad I don;t think he gets enough game time, quite often gets brought on for the last 15-20mins but you are spot on in a better side he would be a different player.
