Both teams had opportunities to score throughout the game, with the Hammers coming closest through a 25-yard strike by Declan Rice, but the game finished goalless against the Champions League chasing side. Burnley manager Sean Dyche made three changes from last weekend’s match at Newcastle United. Ben Mee returned from injury to replace Nathan Collins. The other two changes saw Jay Rodriguez come in for the injured Maxwel Cornet and Jack Cork swap for Josh Brownhill, the latter named on the bench for the hosts. The hosts made a strong start at Turf Moor, and in the sixth minute, Chris Wood towered above Tomas Soucek to meet Dwight McNeil’s right hand corner, but the ball flew into the Barnfield Construction Stand. Four minutes later, the Hammers had their first attempt on goal as Arthur Masuaku was waiting on the edge of the box to volley a header from Charlie Taylor inches wide of right-hand post.
