Clarets share spoils with Tigers in first midweek game of campaign Burnley took a point from their first midweek game of the 2022/23 campaign, drawing 1-1 at home to Hull City in Sky Bet Championship action.

Both goals came in the first half at Turf Moor with Jay Rodriguez’s 34th minute strike cancelling out Ozan Tufan’s opener for the visitors nine minutes earlier.

Vincent Kompany made three changes to his Clarets lineup from a 1-0 defeat to Watford last time out. Jack Cork returned to the side along with Vitinho and Rodriguez, both of whom started for the first time this season.

Meanwhile, the trio of Dara Costelloe, Manuel Benson and Ashley Barnes dropped to the bench.

In the opposition camp, Hull remained unchanged from their win over Norwich City. Summer signing Oscar Estupinan grabbed both of the Tigers goals in that game, and headed up the attack oncemore alongside Iranian international Allahyar Sayyadmanesh.

All this pretty football and high possession % is fine but there is no end product, we need some height up front and someone who can bang the ball in the net, these new guys can't seem to hit the target.

I miss the backs to the wall & blood & thunder football. Not to mention dychball. (Sm151)

This keep ball lark might pleasing on the eye but it just doesn't do anything to excite me. (Sm119)
