The Youth Team were knocked out of the FA Youth Cup by Sheffield United last night. The Third round tie ended in a heavy 4-1 defeat although the scoreline did flatter the Blades.

The Clarets had two lads under the age of 16 in the side with a few more of a similar age sprinkled on the bench. The side did perform well and keep the hosts at bay till the 62nd minute before the deadlock was broken however a Danny Pitham penalty brought the sides back level. United then scored another quick goal to take the lead again before adding two more goals late on to settle the tie.

Terry Pashley later admitted the scoreline flattered the hosts and was pleased with how the young lads performed.

Burnley: Crossley, Preston, Townsend, Carter, Pitham, Pugh, Avery, Booth, Quinn (West), Ince, Taylor.
Subs not used: Hale, Heywood, Hanley, Greenwood.
