Stan Wants Facey to Stay

Stan Ternent has today revealed that he wishes to keep Delroy Facey on a permanent basis. The 23 year old striker, currently on loan from Bolton, is due to go back to the Reebok at the end of the month however this may now change as both managers have spoken about the possibility of Delroy staying.

Facey arrived at the club back in September, with Gareth Farrelly, and started at Stoke in the impressive victory. He started every game after the one at the Brittania until last week at Derby where a toe injury forced him to miss out.

He had to wait a while to get his first goal before netting a hat trick against Walsall in early October, he then scored at Ipswich and West Ham in the next two games to improve his goal scoring record. Since West Ham he hasn't scored a goal and in all honesty hasn't looked like scoring.

Stan Ternent is unable to negotiate an extended loan deal for Facey due to Football League rules, which state that a player can only be transferred on a long term loan if he is under 23 years of age on June 30 prior to the season in which the loan is to take place. Facey turned 23 last April ruling out this kind of move.

Ternent had this to say about the situation
"Delroy is injured at the moment, but he's here until the end of the month and I'll see where we can go from there.

"His age is in his favour and he is out of contract at the end of the season, but I'm still unsure where Bolton are coming from.

"I would like to extend his stay and I've had a chat with Sam, who has to decide what he wants to do.

"Then, of course, the most important person in the equation is Delroy himself and what he wants to do.

"It's no secret I want him, but we'll have to see."

The news will come as a suprise to a large number of Burnley fans who haven't been overly impressed with the Yorkshire born striker since his arrival and he has stated on a few occassions that he can't wait to get back to Bolton and fight for a first team spot and if that is to be believed then in all honesty i wouldn't expect to see Facey lining up for the Clarets in December
