Youths Knock Out Preston

The Youth team did the club proud last night when they beat Preston in the Lancashire FA Youth Cup. In a good game of football just the one goal was needed to book our place in the fourth round.

Burnley's Youth Team are through to the 4th Round of the Lancashire Cup after beating local rivals Preston at Turf Moor last night.

The game started brightly enough for the Clarets with a number of good chances created but not converted and this was the general pattern of play throughout the first half until we finally broke the deadlock shortly before half time.

Marc Pugh, who had a good game, delivered a superb ball from the right which was headed into the net by Alex Taylor. Just moments later Pugh had a decent effort well saved by the Preston keeper.

The second half was a more even affair with neither side creating much. The major incident of the half came at the midway point when Burnley captain Ryan Townsend was sent off for a second bookable offence when in truth he didn't deserve the card.

Burnley defended deep during the last period of the half but neither looked like conceding and they didn't. The Clarets will have to wait a while before finding out who their next opponents will be, when the draw is made we'll let you know.
