It was a case of last gasp goals in the 1st Division last night with late goals affecting the results in 3 of the games. West Brom have extended their lead at the top whilst Crystal Palce are now in the relegation zone.

West Brom have extended their lead at the top of the Division after scoring a late winner in a dull game at Bradford. Bryan Robson's side looked to have gained a valuable point against the Division's pacesetters until Scott Dobie headed home in the 88th Minute.

Sheffield United bounced back from their defeat at Turf Moor on Saturday with a convincing 2-0 win over Walsall. Paul Peschisolido opened the scoring the first half before Nick Montgomery doubled the advantage midway through the second half.

West Ham's poor run, under Alan Pardew, continued last night when they beaten by Stoke at Upton Park. Fazer Richardson scored the only goal of the game in front of West Ham's lowest league gate of the season.

Cardiff are still in the play off zone even though they were held at home by Preston. North End took the lead in the Second Half through Ricardo Fuller before Richard Langley levelled for the Bluebirds. Substitute David Healy restored Noth End's lead late on but they couldn't hang on to this advantage and Peter Thorne got a goal in injury time to give the Welshmen a share of the spoils.

Crystal Palace are now in the bottom 3 following their defeat at home to Crewe. Dean Ashton and Luke Varney gave Alex a two goal lead before Danny Butterfield scored to bring Palace back into the game. As Palace searched for an equaliser they were hit on the break with Dean Ashton scoring a minute from time to pile on the misery for caretake boss Kit Symons.
