Burnely drop down a place

Burnley have tonight fallen into the relegation zone. A draw for Derby was enough to see them climb out of the bottom 3 but Burnley now have a game in hand on the rams.

Derby managed to pick up a point against Sheffield United
tonight and as a result move out of the relegation zone at the expense of
the Clarets. Crewe halted their recent slump with a 2-0 win over Stoke City
at Gresty Road although there was some good news with Gillingham losing at
the Stadium of Light. Sheffield United took the lead in the first half but the lead was cancelled out by an Ian Taylor penalty in the 25th minute. The Blades were unable to get a second goal and Derby now move to 42 points. Kenny Lunt got the two goals Crewe needed to move upto 47 points althought they too have played a game more than Burnley. Gillingham remain 3 points ahead of Burnley having played the same number of games following their defeat at Sunderland. Darren Byfield got the second half winner for Sunderland and they now move upto 4th in the table. |
