Duff Signs

Burnley have signed Cheltenham Town defender Michael Duff. The Northern Ireland International has signed a 3 year contract with the club.

The move has caused outrage amongst the Cheltenham fans with Burnley paying a fee of £30,000 for the talented centre-half. Duff was in the final year of his current contract at Whaddon Road and the club decided it was best to cash in. Duff has played over 200 games for Cheltenham and doesn't appear to have had any injury problems during that time.

Duff had this to say.... “I’m really looking forward to the challenge on offer and the chance of playing at a higher level. I got a call this morning (Monday) and it was a case of getting here and signing really. I was in the last year of my contract at Cheltenham and when the chance came to make the step up to the higher level, I had to take it.”

Cheltenham will end up making slightly more than £30,000 as Burnley have agreed to visit Whaddon Road for a pre-season friendly next season. Burnley Football Club have also confirmed that the player is not same person who Steve Cotterill had said we had signed last week so we still await news of that signing. Welcome to Burnley Michael.
